Lavoratori boomerang: un trend in forte crescita
E se i job hopper nel saltare tra un’azienda e l’altra si imbattessero in una delle vecchie aziende? In questo caso potrebbero fregiarsi anche del titolo di lavoratori boomerang.
Se anche tu hai pensato di cogliere un’opportunità professionale avanzata da un’azienda che hai lasciato in passato, non sei il solo. Anzi, sappi che sei parte di un trend in forte crescita negli ultimi anni, in linea con un cambiamento di prospettiva generalizzato.
Diciamo che se prima dominava l’idea secondo cui “la minestra riscaldata non è mai buona”, oggi sta prendendo piede quella secondo cui “certi amori non finiscono, fanno giri immensi e poi ritornano”.
Infatti, secondo uno studio americano del 2015, 2 manager su 3 sono favorevoli ai boomerang worker e 4 dipendenti su 10 non escludono di tornare in futuro nella vecchia azienda.
La banca di investimento Citigrup ha registrato nello scorso anno un tasso di rientro di ex-dipendenti del 10%, pari a 20.000 dipendenti su 225.000. La multinazionale americana ha implementato un programma di recruiting strutturato proprio sull’idea secondo cui i lavoratori boomerang possono essere risorse d’oro.
Si tratta di un network realizzato per il mantenimento dei contatti con gli ex-dipendenti ritenuti potenzialmente interessanti per inserimenti futuri, grazie alla combinazione di piattaforme online e incontri.
Un fenomeno visto positivamente
Per l’azienda, assumere un ex-dipendente equivale a impiegare minori risorse e tempo nel processo di selezione e di formazione.
Infatti la risorsa conosce già i valori, la mission, la cultura organizzativa nel complesso e la struttura dell’azienda e dovrà essere formata esclusivamente rispetto alle mansioni che andrà a svolgere nel nuovo ruolo – ammesso che l’assenza sia stata molto lunga e/o ci siano stati cambiamenti significativi nel frattempo.
Una risorsa che torna dopo aver maturato esperienze in altri contesti, avrà maturato skill e know how che possono stimolare l’introduzione di nuovi punti di vista e dinamiche.
Per il candidato, significa non dover affrontare nuovamente il periodo di prova, normalmente previsto per l’assunzione con contratti a tempo indeterminato.
Inoltre, ha la certezza di essere inserito con un contratto avente un livello del CCNL almeno pari rispetto al contratto stipulato in precedenza. La vita è piena di imprevisti, per questo bisogna gestire al meglio tanto il processo burocratico quanto le dinamiche relazionali che entrano in gioco nel momento in cui si rassegnano le dimissioni e oltre.
Le domande che si fanno ai lavoratori boomerang durante un colloquio
Quando un recruiter si trova davanti ad un candidato boomerang le classiche domande variano sensibilmente rispetto a quelle per un potenziale nuovo assunto. Di seguito qualche domanda che potrebbe essere di aiuto quando si sta valutando un lavoratore di ritorno:
- Che attività stavi svolgendo quando hai lasciato la tua precedente azienda?
- In che modo pensi che le tue competenze e la tua esperienza si siano evolute dall’ultima volta che hai lavorato qui?
- Ci sono questioni irrisolte con il tuo precedente datore di lavoro o con i tuoi collaboratori?
- Come mai desideri tornare a far parte di questa azienda?
Quando si tratta di dover prendere una decisione sarà bene avere una lista di pro e contro che possano facilitare il processo di valutazione.
Pro e contro dei lavoratori boomerang
I vantaggi dell’assumere un ex-dipendente sono numerosi ed alcuni di questi abbiamo già accennato:
- molto meno tempo e molti meno costi impiegati nel processo di selezione
- un’alta propensione del candidato a condividere la cultura aziendale
- Familiarità del candidato con la mansione, le le aspettative della stessa
- Nuove competenze acquisite, contatti, punti di vista e, probabilmente, clienti
- un rapporto datore di lavoro – dipendente già stabilito che verosimilmente sarà più leale e duraturo
I contro nel riconsiderare un ex dipendente potrebbero essere:
- se se ne sono andati in una situazione negativa potrebbero riportare malumori all’interno del gruppo di lavoro
- potrebbero necessitare di più tempo del previsto per ri-abituarsi all’ambiente, specialmente se la politica organizzativa è cambiata nel frattempo
- potrebbero semplicemente non rappresentare la scelta migliore, nonostante la loro esperienza passata.
